어느새 건조한 감흥과 시선이 익숙한 일상, 어쩌다 보니 나의 삶 한켠에 아이들의 순간이 자리하게 되었다. 어른이 된 나의 눈에 당연하다 못해 때때로 삭막하게 여겨지던 일상의 다양한 것들이 아이들의 시선에서는 그저 신기한 놀이의 부분이자 꼬리에 꼬리를 무는 호기심의 원천이 되곤 했다. 그들에게 이 세상은 무한한 가능성과 즐거움으로 가득 채워진 거대한 놀이터인 것만 같았다. 마치 단단한 어느 틈 사이에 힘껏 피어난 봄날의 새싹처럼 그들의 순수한 동심은 견고하게 진 쳐진 사회 곳곳을 비추며 피어나는 듯한 인상을 전해왔다.

우리 모두에게는 놀이터의 시절이 있었다. 무한한 가능성을 꿈꾸던 그 풍성하고 아름다운 동심의 시절은 지금 아이들만의 것이 아니라 모든 세대가 한 번쯤 품었던 것이다. 그리고 돌아보면, 세상의 모든 놀이터는 다음 세대를 위해 그 시대의 어른들이 마련해 온 공간이다. 작은 동네 놀이터뿐만 아니라 우리가 살아가는 이 세상이라는 커다란 놀이터 역시 마찬가지다.

오늘날 한 사회의 구성원으로 살아가는 우리는 다음 세대를 위해 어떤 책임과 역할을 해야 할 것인지 고민하지 않을 수 없다. '놀이터' 작품은 그렇게 인간 내면 어딘가에 깊이 자리한 순수한 기쁨과 꿈틀거리는 찬란함을 재해석함과 동시에 작가가 관찰한 아이들의 모습을 기록한 것이다. 그리고 더 나아가, 다음 세대를 위한 우리 어른들의 역할과 책임에 대해 진중한 질문을 건네본다.

한편 작품 속에서 활용된 금색은 그 색감이 지닌 양면적 특성을 통해 순수한 기쁨과 피어나는 동심을 드러내면서도, 동시에 작가가 지닌 인간 존재에 대한 내재된 불안함과 회의감를 드러낸다.

또한 본래 자연에서 출발한 무기질 재료이면서 자연을 거스르는 현대인의 반복적이고 각박한 일상을 담는 시멘트를 통해 오늘날 현대 사회의 복합적이고 다층적인 면모를 직설적이면서도 섬세하게 담아낸다.

Amid the familiar dryness of perception and monotonous routines, vivid moments of childhood have quietly found a place within my life. Everyday things, often considered ordinary or even dreary through my adult eyes, transform into intriguing playthings and endless sources of curiosity when seen through children's eyes. To them, the world appears to be an immense playground filled with boundless possibilities and joy. Like fresh sprouts breaking vigorously through hardened ground in springtime, their pure innocence shines brightly through the rigid structures of society.

We all once had our playground days. That abundant and beautiful innocence filled with infinite dreams was not unique to children alone, but a universal experience shared across all generations. Reflecting upon this, every playground—from small neighborhood play areas to the vast playground of life itself—has been thoughtfully prepared by adults for future generations.

As members of today's society, we inevitably contemplate our responsibilities and roles for the generations to come. The "Playground" series reinterprets the deep-seated pure joy and radiant potential within human beings, capturing the moments of children as observed by the artist. Moreover, it poses serious questions regarding the roles and responsibilities adults bear towards future generations.

Meanwhile, the gold color utilized in the artwork embodies dual aspects: expressing pure joy and blossoming innocence while simultaneously revealing the underlying anxiety and skepticism the artist holds regarding human existence.

Additionally, cement, originally derived from natural mineral sources yet symbolic of modern humanity’s repetitive and harsh routines that stand against nature, conveys today's complex and multi-layered realities directly yet delicately.
