<New World> reveals a sculptural cross-section of a contemporary ecology in which the hierarchy between nature and civilization has been reversed. Although all artificial objects originate from materials extracted from nature, they become estranged entities once processed, manufactured, and integrated into human systems. The artist defines today’s ecosystem as an overturned state—an era in which nature must precariously depend on the rigid, human-made structures that once arose from it.

This inversion is visualized through a vertical tower composed of cement—the foundational material of architecture—and everyday objects embedded within it. Household items wedged into the rough seams of cement, alongside plants that emerge strangely between them, expose a fragment of the modern city where damaged nature and overgrown civilization are tightly entangled. At the same time, the work evokes the image of a future fossil—a sedimented relic waiting to be excavated, prompting questions about what material legacy our present world will ultimately leave behind.

<New World> reflects on a nascent ecology formed from the intermingling of nature and the artificial. Through this hybrid structure, the work encourages contemplation of the material heritage of our time and its uncertain sustainability.

<New World> 는 이러한 관계를 시멘트라는 건축적 재료와 일상의 오브제를 수직으로 층층이 쌓아 올린 타워 형태로 시각화한다. 거친 시멘트 덩어리의 틈새에 박힌 생활 용품과 그 사이에서 자라나는 식물의 기이한 공생은, 파괴된 자연과 비대해진 문명이 서로 얽혀 있는 현대 도시의 단면을 드러낸다. 동시에 이는 언젠가 발굴될 ‘미래의 화석(Fossil)’을 연상시키며, 현재 우리가 구축한 세계가 무엇을 남기게 될지에 대한 질문을 제기한다.
